The Tender Box, Kill Hannah, & She Wants Revenge: Concert Review

A crappy, rainy day is the best day for a She Wants Revenge show! Walking into the concert my girlfriend and I were greeted by tons of gross fans for one of the opening bands. (Kill Hannah to be exact) Now usually I don’t judge people too much, but these young fans broke one of my two major concert rules. YOU NEVER EVER WEAR A SHIRT OF THE BAND THAT YOU ARE GOING TO SEE TO THE SHOW. The other was not listening to that band that day.

The first band was really bad…They called themselves The Tender Box, but they should have been called Doods In Boots, because they all were wearing boots. If bands were able to have siblings then Hot Hot Heat would have a retarded little brother and they would be this first band that we saw. During their first song they used a tambourine (which doesn’t make sense to me to begin with) and at one point said, “Heads up” and threw it into the crowd…Needless to say it ended up flying at me. Now if I were them I would have wanted someone to have caught it, done a front flip onto the stage, and started to play along with me, but I just watched it fly by in slow motion and continued watching till it hit the ground and then I kicked it over to some teeny boppers that were next to me.

All hell broke loose when (“welcome to Chicago mother fuckers”) Kill Hannah took the stage. Now I like some of the music that they have, but there is something about them that I just do not like…And that something is the fact that they are tools. They dress like homeless people that steal things from Kmart then rip and poop on their attire. The amount of guy liner is amazing, and the fact that their hair spray cloud gave me a migraine for the last four days. I know for a fact that these dudes do not dress this way in real life. It is very obnoxious. Their fans happen to be four types of people; 16 year old girls that are way too happy that their parents let them come out on a Thursday night, 16 year old girls that are sneaking out of their house on a Thursday night and are still having too much fun, 16 year old girls that did neither of the last two things and had to bring their 45 year old mothers with them, and finally (and the worst in my opinion) just the 45 year old mothers that are sneaking away from their 16 year old daughters.

Finally She Wants Revenge took the stage! Let me just say, half of the show is what I thought it would be and then the other half no one could have predicted. The part that I did expect was how sexual things were. They are a very sexually charged band. The lead singer danced very similar to Todd Fink from The Faint, meaning neither of their hips lied. Now for the part I did not expect…When asked why their lyrics are the way they are the lead singer replied, “We just want to make young girls cry” that and they must have wanted large Hispanic men to use my back as a humping tool. I had a plethora of Hispanic men getting busy all over my back side. With that and the hairspray migraine I had a hard time sleeping the last few days.

Cool parts besides the usuals:
-Seeing a DJ AM sticker on the dudes bass from SWR!
-During SWR’s last song (Tear You Apart) the lead singer had the crowd sing most of the chorus, and the best part about that was hearing an entire crowd clearly yell, “I want to fucking tear you apart”!

This show had its good parts and bad parts, but SWR is such a fucking cool band. I liked them a lot before the show, but after seeing them I could say they are in my faves! Their new music is so different and so much better than there already sweet old stuff! Please, I implore that everyone check them out as soon as possible!
