I Have One Destination In Life And The Poets Tell Me That It Is Prison

Jennifer L. (only when she writes) Knox finally has her new book, The Mystery of the Hidden Driveway coming out! I have been reading a lot of her stuff (A Gringo Like Me and Drunk By Noon) lately with working on my own manuscript. I know some of you have checked her out, but if you are reading this and you still have not, please go buy a book, I promise it will be worth every penny!

Also check out Ada Limon
http://adalimon.blogspot.com/ and @adalimon for her new book, What Sucks Us In Will Surely Swallow Us Whole. Her past book, This Big Fake World is something that will make you laugh and then stop you and show you how to bind your emotions.

I would also like to thank Jen Knox for the "Good luck in prison" comment and Adam for making me sound like an Italian Mob Boss on his way to the big house.

Up In The Sky...

Tonight, or on the next free clear night that you all have look into the sky at about midnight. My girlfriend and I spotted this star looking thing the blinks with a slight red and white tint. Every night we go out there and see it, after midnight we go out every hour and we see that it has clearly moved a lot. Now I know that you are saying so what shit moves all of the time. Well the one night I saw it moving in real time, very slowly. Also I saw it disappear and stop blinking. It will be very low in the western sky. I was thinking satellite, but just to be safe I tried contacting Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum but they did not return my calls...

It's Pillow Talk Plagiarized By The Gadgets Of Lust: A Mixed Ode To Urbana, Illinois

In thinking about moving back to Urbana, Illinois I realized that I need to set something up away from what I am used to. I cannot be stuck in a college party mode for the rest of my life. It was a great time for me and I do not regret anything, but I need to move on.

"You got me right where you wanted me. So what do we do if I can't hold this pose for too long? Should we shoot again, or does this whole operation shut down and we go back to the board? I practiced all my lines, oh yea I’d feed every child in the world." But it was a two and a half year one night stand baby. "I gotta keep up. If you got it all then you got it right. I’m gonna do what you say and get way out of line. Nobody’s gonna stop me now. It’s not how it looks unless you say nothing...We all agree this proposal’s been sentenced to death. Am I baiting the right hook to get your attention?" You need another blackout. "I’ve been calling. Flooding hot lines. I’ve applied mascara to you but that’s just a quick fix and I need a little more. Does it matter to you at all? Are you listening or have you tuned out? I’ve gotta get it together. But first I drink and I take it all apart." Every time I go I'm the local boy and I'm back in town. "Well that’s the way it is. It breaks my heart. I’ve applied mascara to you but that’s just a quick fix and I need a little more. Does it matter to you at all? Are you listening or have you tuned out?" Get by. Get gone. Get high. Get drunk. Get wronged.

Shit Going On

At 12:34:56 this afternoon it was 12:34:56 07/08/09! Once every 100 years! The way the news hyped it I thought the world was going to end or something...As that time got closer I felt an odd feeling. I started to get nervous. I gave my family a hug, told them I loved them, and made sure to tweet one last time. Then the time hit...And I sneezed.

In other news. Chad Johnson from the Cincinnati Bengals made a comment about how he was going to tweet during games. Not only at half time but during the damn game. First off, he can get a hug fine for doing that. Second, what if his dumb ass says something about a plan for the game that he should not talk about. This is all just a publicity stunt to get more followers. If I were all of you tweeters out there I would not follow him, I would actually remove him, block him if you can, even better drive to his house, put a glove on, take a shit in your hand, ring his bell, run about 20 feet away, and when he answers throw the football looking poop at him and say, "catch this ass wipe!" From there you will film him doing his new endzone dance called, "I get the shit I deserve!"

Alright, I wanted to write more but for some reason that took a lot out of me.
Peace!

Baby I'm Going To Buy You A Star And Give It Your Name: A Review Of Public Enemies

Sorry this is so late, but I have been very busy and I ran into some Internet issues. I am at the library, indulging in the romance of being around knowledge and felt compelled to take a shit on this film.

After following this film for about a year or two I had extremely high hopes with what the final cut would bring to me! I think that might have been my problem. I knew a lot about Dillinger already and this film seemed to be a sip of water for those who did not know much about the great American bank robber.

The actual filming of it was interesting, shot on the fancy handhelds, but it made for uncomfortable situations and odd close ups on the actors. I can see why it would fit the film with the fast passed, violent lives of these gangsters, but it was not my cup of tea.

The acting was great! I have no complaints about anyone in the film. But the writing was bad. It seemed like Michael Mann spent more time worrying about the filming than writing a good script. There were a lot of Dillinger one liners for the ladies that made him seem like a comedic bro more so than a suave man.

Overall this film had so much potential to be something that would change how we viewed gangsters. Michael Mann searched "John Dillinger" on wikipedia and made his film from there. The characters refused to grow into anything and have an end goal for themselves. It is a shame that no one will touch this topic for some time, leaving this odd taste in our mouths.

The Werewolf Theme Is Becoming An Everyday Thing For Me

Hello July! I welcome you with the blistering Chicago heat that I have been waiting...What the hell, it is 59 degrees and rainy.

Interesting news:
1. Rob Zombie has purchased the remake rights to the genre classic An American Werewolf In London. This is one of the better Werewolf films out there. Usually I would say that it is a bad idea to remake a good film, but I am guilty of loving the old school nature and Zombie's respect for tradition!

2. Tonight I am going to a showing of Public Enemies! Dillinger has to be one of my favorite Chicago figures. Look for a review and some Dillinger poetry that I have been writing soon!
